Helping Families to Recover

Family Counseling & Support

Beacon Children's Hospital strives to help the patient and their family understand and accept their condition, recognize their role in the daily management of their treatment and determine the appropriate intervention care. Children need inspiration, encouragement, and a strong family support system to return to their home environment and previous levels of functioning. The treatment team works with family members while the patient is hospitalized to meet each child's individual needs. Resources and health services from each child's home community are taken into account and evaluated. Family counseling and referrals for follow-up treatment are made prior to the time of discharge.

When can I visit my child?

Visitation:                                                   Monday - Friday                                           5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Saturday - Sunday                                           2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Family and friends are welcome. An adult must accompany children. We encourage the emotional support visitors provide, as it may be quite helpful in a patient's recovery. We ask that visitors be considerate of a patient's busy schedule during the day and not interfere with their therapy schedule.

What about telephone conversations?            You can speak with your child via telephone every day. Please note a password is required for privacy and security purposes.

Can patients receive mail?                           Personal mail will be delivered to each patient's room daily. Any mail that arrives after the patient is discharged will be forwarded to their home.
